Weekly Challenge: Stop & Read 👁️
November is Member Appreciation Month 2024! This month, we’re featuring THREE CHALLENGES created by your fellow scouts. This week’s challenge was inspired by Shamim Graff. Shamim challenges you to find and read a plaque in your community!
Details:
1) Find a plaque in your community that's new to you.
Some places to look include:
Monuments
Parks
Buildings (especially older ones), and
Public art installations.
IMPORTANT: In the spirit of making the most of this challenge, please choose a plaque that contains a fair amount of information. Not just a single name and date, but interesting information about the object it emblazons.
2) Read the plaque in its entirety. (Some of them can be quite long!)
3) Take a photo of the subject your plaque depicts and share it on our Facebook Page as a comment on the post “Stop & Read 👁️.” For example, if the plaque describes a firehouse, photograph the firehouse. (Posting on our Facebook Page is what reminds us to award you your well deserved star!)
4) Along with your comment, please also tell us:
What plaque did you read? (What did it depict? Where was it?)
One (or more) thing your learned while reading the plaque.
Did you find your plaque on Read The Plaque? (See Step 5)
5) Check out Read The Plaque. Search and see if your plaque is there.
6) (Optional) If your plaque is not already on Read The Plaque, consider adding it.
Star:
7) To collect your star, you must:
-Post a comment to the Facebook post mentioned above, (Step 4)
-before December 2, 2024
-while holding an active Quest Scouts membership. (Not a member, but interested in collecting stars? You can become a member here.)
